Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Liverpool. The pub's history can be traced back to the 1880s and is named after the shipping company of Titantic fame. It is known as the place The Beatles played their first gig and also where Alan Williams and Bob Wooler (owners of the Cavern Club located across the road) would pay their artists.
There are so many cool things about this pub. First of all there are so many different interesting spaces to hang out in. From the curved bench room at the front to the backroom where The Beatles conducted their business, there are lots of great places to sit (and plenty of locals to talk with everywhere!). Check out the odd shaped little bar - very unique (as was the bartender - a bit quirky to say the least!).
Of course there are tons of photos, paintings and memorabilia on the walls. From old Liverpool and luxury travel to The Beatles - you could walk around for an hour checking them all out. And the decor - everywhere you turn there is dark wood, etched glass and beautiful furniture. I had to sit at the little table at the bottom of the stairs just to try to soak it all in.
There were no ladies toilets until 1987, and until about the same time the men's toilets were outside and had no roof!
I was lucky to enjoy a Bass Ale on tap (hard to find these days!) and a really nice bitter from Otter brewery (Devon). Life is good!
