Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Solihull, UK. The original building was constructed between 1550 and 1565 and was first recorded as a coaching inn in 1583. By 1828 it had become a private residence called Silhill (once a popular variation of Solihull) House which was owned by the Chattock family. The building was demolished in 1926. The Wetherspoon group opened the pub in 2005 and took the name The White Swan Inn in tribute to the former coaching inn.
A huge spacious pub that was very busy - the place to be! Plus a nice outdoor seating area where I got to hear lots of West Midlands accents. I had two tasty beers here. Ruggles Best (Greene King Brewery from Bury St. Edmunds) - a classic English ale with hoppy citrus undertones provided by Goldings, Challenger, Bramling Cross and Target hops. And Stairway to Heaven from Burton Bridge Brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent, former home of Bass Ale. I enjoyed this beer during my visit to Burton last year and was happy to see it on tap here. Kind of a "strong bitter" with a lively hop profile provided by Fuggles and Goldings hops. Both beers were perfect as I soaked up the sun.
