Crawley, UK. The pub was built in the late 18th century and incorporates a timber framed structure from the 17th century. An earlier White Hart had become too small to cope with 18th century coaching traffic and was sold in 1753. It served as Crawley's main post office for most of the 19th century. The White Hart (hart being an archaic word for stag) was the personal badge for Richard II, and it is the fifth most popular name for a pub in the UK. It has a spacious interior and a nice outdoor seating area, and a resident pub dog who was quite friendly and brought his food bowl and ball over to me. I was happy to see a beer from Harvey's Brewery in Lewes that I hadn't tasted before - Star of Eastbourne, a classic East India Pale Ale brewed with Admiral hops. Delicious!
