Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Cardiff (St. Fagans). St.Fagans National Museum of History is an open air village built on the grounds of St. Fagans Castle and gardens, a late 16th century manor house. The pub originally stood in the Newton area of Cardiff that was known as Little Ireland. It began as two small terraced houses that were later knocked through to form one larger building. It was first registered as an ale house in 1853 and was called The Vulcan Inn, then remodeled in 1914-1915 and renamed The Vulcan Hotel. It was dismantled and moved to St. Fagans in 2020. Vulcan refers to the iron works originally located nearby and to the Roman god of fire and metal working.
This is a nice Victorian style pub surprisingly found at a really cool museum. There are lots of rooms to explore. A nice little front bar and surrounding area, with the bartenders in period dress. Going back through the public bar and then a kind of gaming room, you end up in the smoke room - beautiful with red and green and dark brown. There are two fireplaces (I have failed to mention the wonderful fire places in most of the pubs that I visit), and a lovely outdoor seating area. A relaxing finish to a wonderful afternoon at the museum. (see my wife's blog travelswithbethany.com for more about the museum!).
