Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Barry, Wales. Dating from 1762 it is the oldest pub in Barry. The bar was a regular for dock workers and sailors from around the world. It was originally called The Chain Locker and reportedly the beer glasses were chained to the bar. It became The Ship in the 1890s and was owned by Crosswell's Brewery of Ely, Cardiff, then taken over by the Rhymney Brewery in 1936, becoming Rhymney and Crosswell's. Taken over by Whitbread in 1966, then by the Welsh Brewers in 1997. It is now owned by Greene King and is part of their Hungry Horse chain of pubs.
Obviously it has undergone a lot of refurbishment and doesn't look so old. But it is a large beautiful pub with lots of rooms to choose from and there are two bars. There is also a large beer garden in the back. When in a Greene King pub their IPA is always my go to beer.
