Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

York. This beautiful timber framed building from the 15th century was originally a house, and it became a pub in the 1800s. It has a bread oven which the pub claims dates from the 13th century (?) and there is evidence of a priest hole. Legend has it that the notorious highwayman Dick Turpin once escaped through a window of the pub. I love the unique rounded bar with its stained glass that is the center of the pub and of course all the dark wood timbers. There is standing area around the bar and 4 rooms - 2 in front, 2 in back. Tasted 2 delicious beers - Jouster English Hopped Best Bitter from Goffs Brewery in Cheltenham and Mythicale from Rudgate Brewery in York. Then off to visit the grave of Dick Turpin.
