Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Birmingham, UK. A pub tied to the Davenports Brewery of Birmingham which was established in 1829. Originally called The Queens Head, it became The Kings Head in 1850, later The Jekyll and Hyde, and then renamed The Queens Head in 2022 in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Back in the day the pub was a meeting place for societies such as the Druids and Foresters, and patrons would use tokens for transactions. Davenports was famous for winning a "Beer Hawking" (selling beer from home) case in the Victoria Law Courts in 1904. A beautiful interior features a tinned bar front, a small drinking booths and a sort of conservatory in the rear. I tasted several beers (which were all delicious) and chose their nicely balanced IPA, made with Citra, Simcoe, Chinook, and Mount Hood hops (how could I go wrong?).
