Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Leicester Square, London. As I have mentioned before, I usual have a list of a few pubs I intend to visit when I go out for my pub crawl, but I often stumble across pubs that draw me in. The Porcupine is one of these. Founded in 1725, its address was originally on Castle Street, which changed to Charing Cross Road in the 1870s/80s. I couldn't walk by the angled frontage without going in, where I was greeted by a most wonderful circular bar. In the past it was a meeting place for the Freemasons, notably serving as the home of the "Lodge of Confidence" from 1807 to 1829. In 1822 a famous incident occurred when a gang of thieves celebrated a successful burglary of the home of Lord Ashbrook at the pub. Their celebration ended when they were arrested after asking the landlord to hold their stolen goods behind the bar for safekeeping. A Nicholson's pub, their pale ale was my beer of choice.
In addition to finding pubs like this , there are so many other things that are suprise discoveries on my walks, like beautiful old churches, gorgeous parks, and amazing architecture. So my suggestion to all,no matter where you are - enjoy the walk!
