Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Barry, Wales. Built on a steep hill (I did a lot of climbing during my day in Barry!) near the railway station, it was built in the late 19th century, as many of the town's larger pubs were at the time, to cater for the expansion of the town brought by the construction of the docks. Locals claim that the building was originally a church and later a bible college, but it has the appearance of a grand late Victorian brick built pub. Originally there were 5 doors to the pub, each leading to separate and distinct areas such as the lounge, smoke room, public bar etc. In the back is a skittle alley. It is a beautiful bar and is decorated throughout with old breweriana, photos of old Barry and Rugby memorabilia. I enjoyed a couple of tasty ales from the Wye Valley Brewery of Stoke Lacy, Herefordshire - the Hereford Pale Ale and the Butty Bach Premium Ale.
