Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Bristol, UK. Dates from 1606 and is the oldest pub in Bristol. Built on the site of Frogmore Farm and a monastery, it was a favorite meeting place for woodsmen from nearby Clifton Wood, hence the name. It has a sorted history as a brothel, gaming den, and a home to sportsmen. In the back of the pub were cock fighting rings, rat pits, and a boxing ring. Bristol produced many bare knuckle boxing champions including Gem Belcher, John Gully, Henry Pearce, Bug Ben Brain, and Tom Cribb. Edward Teach (aka Blackbeard the Pirate) was born in Bristol and was a frequent patron. The 300 year old main door is said to have a layer of human skin under the layers of tarry paint. Inside are lots of small rooms and lots of old dark wooden beams taken from old ships. A nice little beer garden is out back.

Yes Bruce! steeped in layers of history at that very location
