Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Dartmoor, Devon (population approximately 520). A historic 14th century pub built by masons while they worked on the Church of St. Pancras, known as the Cathedral of the Moors. Originally the pub was a resting place for worker to eat and sleep.

The village is so lovely, with a few shops and a nice village green. The pub is (as often is the case) the meeting place for the people of the village. Inside of the old brick exterior are several rooms (with lots of brick and wooden beams, as you would expect) and an enclosed "garden room" in the back. A wonderful end to my journey in Dartmoor with all of it's spectacular views. I highly suggest visiting this awe inspiring part of South Devon - I could spend many more days here. And I got to enjoy one last Jail Ale before we move on in our journey.

Speaking of our journey, if you would like to see and hear more about our trip (besides just pubs) check out bethanytravels.com . Cheers!
