Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Birmingham, UK. The first pub was built on this site in the late 18th century and was called the Adelphi Wine Vaults, then became the Albion in 1880. It was renamed The Old Comtemptibles in 1953 to honor a group of the First World War Expeditionary Force (which fought in Flanders from August 5 to Novenber 22, 1914) who met regularly at the pub after the war. This is a grand old pub with high red painted tin ceilings and beautiful bar (with military murals above it), lots of old dark wood everywhere you turn, and of course lots of WWI memorabilia adorning the walls. Even the loo was ornate! One thing I like about Nicholson's pubs are the polished brass tables. And of course a Nicholson's Pale Ale!
