Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Liverpool. Dating back to the 1840s, it is named after one of the original steam trains on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the "Lion" locomotive, as the pub is located opposite the former Exchange Station on the corner of Tithebarn Street and Moorfields. The pub's current layout, which features a bar side and a lounge side, dates from around 1915, when the owners, Cains Brewery, expanded the building (the "C" of Cain's can still be seen painted above the bar). During this expansion the pub gained its Art Nouveau features, including elaborate tiling, a stained glass cupola, etched glass, and decorative woodwork. In 2020 it was named Liverpool Camra Pub of the Year. I had a great conversation with Carl the bartender who gave me several suggestions of things to do while in Liverpool. The Lancaster Bitter Amber (a style I don't see very often) from Lancaster Brewery was delicious.
