Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

York. Built in the early 1800s, this pub was originally known as the Board Inn. The building used to be a prison and there is still a window at the pub through which prisoners begged to be fed. During excavations in 1816 a tunnel was discovered leading to an eerie dungeon where chains and manacles were hanging. It is claimed footsteps and voices can still be heard today. There is a small bar at the front of the pub with many rooms with lots of brickwork and dark wooden beams to choose from in this spacious pub - luckily I got the seat in front of the hole in the wall! Also lucky to have enjoyed a pint of Bombadier Glorious English Ale - the brewery in Bedford is now closed.
