Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Plymouth. Dating back to 1740 the pub is one of the city's oldest and has a strong connection to its maritime history. Originally serving as a meeting place for fishermen and sailors, it is tucked away on Lambhay Street (a bit of a climb up a series of narrow alleys) just above the Mayflower Steps. Despite being close to the center of town it has a country pub atmosphere. It is quite spacious with many rooms to the sides and behind the front bar. Of course with its history the decor is very nautical forward. It is known as being dog friendly, with its own miniature schnauzer Mr. Jones often overseeing the pub. Of course I had to have The Famous Mr. Jones Premium Golden Bitter, brewed by Summerskills Brewery of Plymouth. But the day I was there Sadie, the resident cat was in charge - my kind of pub!
