Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Salcombe, South Hams, Devon. Salcombe is a popular seaside town within South Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (and it truly is!). The pub is Salcombe's oldest, dating from 1739 and was first called the Commercial Inn. It is located next to the Jubilee Pier from where the Eastportlemouth and Kingsbridge ferries run. It was so cool that the Kingsbridge ferry dropped me off at the foot of the stairs leading up to the pub!
The lower level of the pub is very small, consisting of mainly the bar area. But it leads out onto a large waterside beer garden with spectacular views of the estuary to East Portlemouth and out towards the open sea. What a fantastic place to sit and enjoy a beer! They offer several beers from Palmers brewery in Bridport, Dorset where they have been brewing since 1794. I had a 200 Premium Ale along with some seared local scallops and chorizo - so delicious!
