Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Fitzrovia, London. This corner pub was licensed in 1767 and rebuilt in 1897. The pub sign features Prince Andrew, the current Duke of York. In the 1940s and 1950s landlord Major Alf Klein would initiate male customers by snipping off their ties, with his collection growing to over 1500. Colonel, his great Dane, starred in the film Hound of the Baskervilles. It has been a popular haunt for artists, musicians, and writers throughout the 20th century. The author Anthony Burgess is said to have used his wife's 1943 experience of razor gangs forcing her to drink copious amounts of beer in his novel A Clockwork Orange. In the 1960s the South African Blues Notes played here, escaping apartheid. Famous patrons include Rod Stewart, Donovan, and John Lee Hooker. the ground floor features a beautiful rounded by an old wooden floor, brick walls, and a grey tinned ceiling. Upstairs features a red bar and a red tinned ceiling. It recently become a McMullen's pub, one of my favorites - they make a delicious IPA - and fairly rare as there are only 130 or so in the UK.
