Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Cardiff. Established in 1793 (although there is a building marked on this site on
John Speed's map of 1610). In 1851 it was known as the Van of Flesh as it was surrounded by the cattle market and the slaughterhouse (it was renamed the Cattle Market Tavern in 1858). Both the cattle market and the slaughterhouse moved to the outskirts of Cardiff in the 19th century, leaving the pub as the only reminder of the trades that once went on here. The present building was built in the 1880s and it was renamed The City Arms in 1905. A very comfortable pub with a quaint little bar. Delicious beers from the SA Brains brewery - I enjoyed the Bitter, which is not seen as often.

The original building was erected in 1610?
deep history!
