Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Manchester. Built in 1790 it claims to have the smallest bar in Europe and also one of the oldest pubs in Manchester, dating from 1842 when a brewery took it over. There is hardly any area to stand in front of the bar and there are two small rooms for seating. The front room focuses on local history and entertainers while the back room focuses on football (especially Man United) with many players having frequented the pub, including George Best. The pub is owned by Tetley's (Yorkshire) and offered a Cumberland Deep Golden Ale from Jennings Brewery in the Lake District. I repaired to the back room with my pint and had a lovely chat with a local named Simon who was a wealth of information about the Manchester pub scene. And thanks to the bartender Katie who allowed me behind the bar for a photo.
