Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Manchester. The pub dates from 1806 although a pub named the Anchient Britain occupied the space from 1795. It is one of only three city center buildings left that stood near the site of the Peterloo Massacre of 1819 and it is said that some of the injured were brought to the pub to be treated (the Massacre is commemorated by the murals in the entryway to the pub). It was also commandeered as a recruitment center during the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815). It is listed on CAMRA's National Inventory of Pub Interiors for it's highly ornate interior: terrazzo tiled corridor floor, colorful moulded ceilings, mosaic tiled walls, serving hatches, and 1930s urinals (sorry, no photos!). There are areas in front and behind the bar and a spacious beer garden in the rear. My beer of choice was Piccadilly Best Bitter from Cloud water Brewery (Manchester). Another beautiful pub to check out if you are in Manchester.

Boy you get around!
