Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Crawley, UK. Originally The Shades, the building dates back to 1450 although some parts go back to the 14th century, and began as a timber framed open hall house. It was originally a goal to house prisoners awaiting execution on the nearby gallows which stood outside of the George Hotel, and there were subterranean passages leading there. There are said to be at least three ghosts at the pub dating from these times (shade was a term for ghost). The Chandlers Brewery was established on the site in 1814. There are several rooms featuring old dark wood beams and brick, and a nice wrap around bar. It was voted North CAMRA pub of the year in 2022 and 2023. I enjoyed a delicious Cascade Pale Ale from Vocation and Friends ... with Ansbach and Hobday (the Vocation Brewery is located between Leeds and Manchester).
