Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

York. Built in 1417 for William Bowes, a merchant and Sheriff of York who also became Lord Mayor in 1428. It became a pub in the late 15th century. Timber framed with a half timbered exterior and lots of old timber and beams in the interior. There is a cozy room behind the small bar (with a hatch) with old copper topped tables and a fireplace. Off of the hallway are a couple of larger more refurbished rooms, and a nice little outdoor seating area out back. It is said to be haunted by several ghosts, including a workman in a bowler hat, a young woman in a white dress, and a pair of mans leg's. There also a belief that a passageway that ran under the road connected the pub to St. Cuthbert's Church. I enjoyed a Heart and Soul Session IPA from Vocation Brewing in Cragg Vale near Leeds. A nice beginning to our stay in York.
