Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Rottingdean. Dating back to 1513 and located on the High Street, it was formally known as the Black Hole and was once a blacksmith's forge. It is considered the oldest entire building in Rottingdean. The pub features a plaster covered timber frame and is said to be built on smugglers' tunnels. The interior is split into four areas. The left side is decorated with a maritime theme and the right side is more open with a skylight. In between is a cozy smugglers cove and in the rear is a space for dining. They all surround a small central bar. Out back is a spacious beer garden. Another great feature - Jones the cat and Arthur the pup. There are two offerings of cask ale - Abbot from Greene King and Sussex Best Bitter from nearby Harvey's Brewery. Izzy the bartender was quite helpful and my new friends Jan and Nick gave me many suggestions for things to see and do in town. Located about 20 yards from our flat, this will be a great local for me during our stay.
