Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

St. Helens. One of St. Helens' oldest pubs, it dates back to when Thomas Greenall bought the inn as part of his rapidly expanding brewery in St. Helens. It is listed in Greenall's rent book in 1800, so must date back to the 18th century. It once staged cock fights and was frequented by Lords Derby and Gerard.
The interior has lots of brick walls with photos of old St.Helens, and wooden beamed ceilings (that I always am happy to see!) And of course being so close to Rainhill there is the required steam engine memorabilia. As is case (generally) in this part of the country John Smith's Tadcaster was the beer of choice.
