Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Buckfastleigh, Devon. Housed in an 18th century Devon quarry house, it became a coaching inn in the 19th century, playing a vital role in providing a resting place for weary stagecoaches and their horses. Located just down the road from the beautiful Buckfast Abbey - founded as a Benedictine monastery in 1018, dissolved in 1539 by Henry VIII, and rebuilt by the monks in 1882. The spacious interior is served by a small front bar. Outside there is picnic table seating with a lovely terrace area next to the River Dart. I sat with an Abbey Best from St. Austell Brewery (Cornwall) and enjoyed the relaxing sounds of the water rushing by and watching a hawk flying down the river.
