Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Torcross, South Devon, UK. A beautiful thatched pub that dates back to the 14th century when it was known as the Fisherman's Arms and was visited by local fishermen who worked from the beach in front of the pub. A Sherman tank stands across the road from the pub to commemorate the most infamous days in Torcross history, Exercise Tiger, April 1944. This was a large scale rehearsal for D-Day that due to coordination and communication problems resulted in friendly fire injuries and then an attack by six German E-boats which claimed at least 749 American lives.
The interior is beautiful with lots of old dark wooden beams, a lovely fireplace, and several rooms for seating. After tasting a Korev lager from nearby Cornwall I chose my usual while in South Devon, a Jail Ale from Dartmoor Brewery, enjoyed along with the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Delicious!
On my next visit I had an Otter Bitter from Honiton, Devon.
