Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Liverpool. Built in the 1700s as stables, it opened as a pub in the 1830s. The name commemorates William Roscoe (1753-1831), Liverpool historian, poet, and leading advocate for the abolition of slavery. It consists of a small main bar area, 2 cozy rooms, and a tiny snug (I had a seat in the snug in front of the window to watch the locals walking by). It is the only pub in the North of England to appear in every edition of the CAMRA Great Beer Guide since it was first published in 1974 and was voted pub of the year by CAMRA in 2024.
There is a great selection of beers to choose from. I tasted four ales I hadn't had before - Tetley's (Yorkshire), Iceberg (Titantic Brewery, Staffordshire), Freehand (Big Hand Brewing, Wrexham) and Jarl Citra Blonde (Fine Ales Farm Brewery, Scotland). A whole lot of deliciousness!
