Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Liverpool. The building dates from the 1700s (it may have been a stables) and became a pub in the 1830s. It is named after William Roscoe, a Liverpool historian, poet, and abolitionist against the slave trade. Inside is a small bar, two cozy rooms separated by leaded glass doors and partitions, and a snug so small it could be mistaken for a cupboard. There is a small outdoor seating area in front. Until the 1980s the toilet was outdoors and had no roof on it. They have been listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide since its inception in 1974, and were awarded the Liverpool and Districts Pub of the Year in 2024. This is my favorite small pub in Liverpool. For beers I had a half pint each of Tetley's Ale (1822, Leeds) and Jarl Citra Session Blonde (Fyne Ales Farm Brewery, Argyll Scotland, 2001). Thanks to George the bartender the nice chat and information.
