Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Cardiff. Built in the shadow of St. John's Church, there was a building on this site shown on Speed's map of 1610. It is recognized as one of the oldest pubs in Cardiff and is named after the leader of the most widespread revolt against established English authority in Wales. It has had many names - RSVP, The Buccaneer, the Tennis Courts Hotel, the Kemeys-Tynt Arms, the Green Dragon, and was known as the Mably Arms in 1731. It was a brewery tap for Nell's Brewery which was situated behind the pub until 1927.
A nice open space but to be honest it has a bit too much of a modern feel for me, although I did like the bar. There were lots of TVs so I think of it more of a sports bar/restaurant than a pub. That said, if I was looking for a place to watch football, Formula 1 or bike racing this would be place to go!
The beer was Smooth Hound from Tomos and Lilford, a microbrewery in Llandow, Vale of Glamorgan. A really nicely balanced English IPA.
