Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Brussels. The original Chex Moeder Lambic was opened on November 5, 1983 by Joel Pecheur (who would later open the Delirium Tremens in 2003). Within three years a Brussels beer cafe guide proclaimed it having over 800 beers, the largest choice of beers in the whole of Brabant. Bartenders Andy Mengal and Nassim Dessicy took over the lease in 2006. I must say it is not the most beautiful of bars, but the beer selection is quite impressive. It was hard to choose but I went with a 2018 Mamouche from Cantillion - the mecca of Belgian beers (more on them in a later post). The Cantillion brewery brews a beer called Zwanze once a year. Mamouche was born under that name in 2009 and has been produced on a regular basis since then. Mamouche is the name given by the seven grandsons who make up the Van Roy-Cantillion family to their grandmother Claude Cantillion. Elderflowers are macerated in a perfectly blended Lambic resulting in a powerful, fresh, floral, and a bit funky (in a good way!) beer. What a great finish to a day of tasting beers in Brussels.
