Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Oxford. Located next to the Lamb and Flag Passage, the pub dates back to 1695 when it was owned by St. John's College, although it has operated since 1566. The name comes from the symbol of Christ as the victorious Lamb of God of the Book of Revelation, and is the symbol of St. John the Baptist. It was used by the writers' group The Inklings which included JRR Tolkein and CS Lewis, and it is believed that Thomas Hardy wrote much of his novel Jude the Obscure here, and the pub is mentioned in several passages in the book. It has a clock that runs backwards displaying "Theakstons Old Peculier" time. As with many pubs in Oxford it has been featured in episodes of Inspector Morse and Endeavour. There are three large rooms and one smaller room surrounding the single bar, but as usual I found a tiny nook to sit and enjoy a Good Old Boy Best Bitter from Renegade Brewery in Yattendon (South of Oxford).
