Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Totnes, Devon. The "King Billy" (as it is affectionately known) was built during the monarchy of William IV, who reigned from 1830 to 1837. It was purpose-built by William Brockbank, who was owner and licensee, on the site of two adjoining cottages that were knocked together to create a dwelling and brewing space. Situated at the corner of Fore Street and Station Road, it has always been a valued resource and meeting place for the local community. It was a place of celebration for the coronations of King George VI (1936), Queen Elizabeth II (1952), and VE Day in 1945.
It is a substantial brick and stone building with a pretty curved glass and timber window frontage. Inside is one large room with a central bar - a lounge to the left of it and more of a bar on the right. My beer of choice was Legend Ale, an Amber Best Bitter from Dartmoor Brewery.
