Kennedy's

Dublin. Established in 1850, this Victorian-era establishment is situated at the corner of Trinity College and has served as a hub for Dublin's literary, academic, and social circles for generations. As with many old pubs, Kennedy's originally opened as a dual purpose venue, operating as a traditional grocery store in the front and a spirit grocer/pub in the back. It features a beautifully preserved red brick facade, distinct arches over the lounge, a classic wraparound storefront, and a historic marble bar counter inside. There are several rooms surrounding the two-sided bar. The underground basement, which historically served as a music and theater venue, has been transformed into "Kennedy's Station", a popular cocktail lounge and private event space. They are famous for their Irish Coffee, which Bethany confirmed was fabulous. Famous patrons include James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, and Oscar Wilde. In fact, Wilde earned his first schilling here working as a Saturday afternoon shelf stacker. A great stop after visiting Trinity College.
