NYC. Times Square. Opened in 1971 by Jimmy Glenn, former prizefighter and corner man for boxers such and Michael Spinks and Floyd Patterson (he actually fought Patterson as an amateur). He also worked with Muhammad Ali when he was in town. Unfortunately Jimmy died from Covid during the pandemic.

This is one of the city's great dive bars. The walls are a dense assemblage of posters, memorabilia, and photographs, and the jukebox plays the same classics as when I was here 20 years ago. Famous patrons who have sat at the long taped up bar include Sammy Davis Jr., Robert De Niro, and Michael Jordan. The price of beers has gone up to $5 (unheard of in the city!) and I was able to enjoy an IPA from Captain Lawrence Brewing in Elmsford, NY, one of my favorite craft breweries when I was here in the old days.
