York. This historic building is the birthplace of Guy Fawkes, the infamous conspirator in the 1605 Gunpowder Plot. The inn and pub dates back to the early 18th century. A lovely pub with a room in front of the old dark wood bar, a couple of rooms off of the long hallway, and a nice outdoor seating area in the back. A Fawkes Bitter (Tetley's Brewery, Hunslet, West Yorkshire) and a bite to eat was a nice way to start my day's crawl in York.
