Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Birmingham, UK. Built in 1820 in the historic Gun Quarter, it was originally three houses and known as The Pike and Musket. It is the tap house of the Two Towers Brewery which is located behind the pub, sharing an outdoor drinking area. The Two Towers which are located near the pub and brewery are widely believed to be those that influenced J.R.R. Tolkein's writings, given that the author lived in their vicinity most of his life. There is a small seating area in front of the bar, a large area next to it, and snug in the back. I had a great chat with bartender Andy, who opened up the brewery so I could have a peek - I love the wooden brew tanks. The brew tanks and fermentation tanks are on two levels to allow the traditional method of gravity transfer between tanks. Their Complete Muppetry IPA was a deliciously balanced ale with nice citrus overtones. Perfect out in the beer garden.
