Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Aldgate, London. Built in 1829 on the site of the Magpie Ale House (1645), the red brick Georgian building is one of the oldest in the Lloyd's Avenue Conservation Society. Of course the name refers to the East India Trading Company, whose offices were located nearby and who played a large role in the development of the India Pale Ale beer style. Inside it is a classic British pub, with only bar stools and serving no food. A central bar serves the room, within wooden floors and walls covered with mirrors and old photos. It is a Shepherd Neame pub and I was happy to get a pint of their Spitfire Amber Ale.
