Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Durham. A Grade II listed pub, parts of which date back to the 15th century. It gets its name from a legend about a lost dun (brown) cow that led Lindisfarne monks seeking a resting place for St. Cuthbert to the spot where Durham Cathedral now stands. The story, first documented in the Rites of Durham written in 1593, suggests that the monks were guided by a milkmaid who was searching for her lost dun cow to Dun Holm, establishing a resting place for the relics and marking the beginning of Durham as a settlement. The pub has a small snug in front of the Central bar and a larger lounge to the rear. I enjoyed an ale from Castle Eden Brewery in Seaham.
