Edinburgh. Located on Edinburgh's Royal mile, established in 1806 and named after Deacon William Brodie, a well respected cabinet maker, Deacon of the Guild of Wrights, and city councilman. By night he lived a secret life of gambling and drinking which led him to commit burglaries to pay off his debts. His stark contrast between a respectable outward persona and criminal inner self is believed to be the basis of Robert Lewis Stephenson's novella Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He was eventually caught and he and his accomplices were hanged in 1788.

The pub features a beautiful dark wood rounded bar, a gorgeous ornate ceiling, and large murals on the walls. Upstairs is a dining room. I enjoyed a Tennents lager (Glasgow) and soaked up the ambiance of this classic pub.
