Dartington, UK. The building dates back to 1302 and was licensed as a pub in 1320, making it the UK's second oldest pub. The inn was a stop for travelers on the packhorse route between Ashburton and Totnes who carried wool and tin. It is named after merchant James Cott. The inn has a thatched roof which is said to be one of the longest in England. It has medieval stone rubble walls, low ceilings with closely spaced wooden beams, and inglenook fireplaces. They won the title of best pub in the country at the Great British Pub Awards in 2019.

We went for Sunday roast which was fabulous, including a delicious sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Do yourself a favor if you are in South Devon and book a Sunday roast here.

My beer of choice was an Abbot Ale from Greene King Brewery in Bury St. Edmunds.
