Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Prescot, Merseyside. A historical and magnificent Georgian building built in the late 18th century as a dower house for the widow of the Earl of Derby. It is in close proximity to the beautiful Knowsley Hall (ancestral home of the Stanley family, the Earls of Derby). It was originally called the West End House. The present name refers to Prescot being a historic watch making town.
The recently refurbished interior is welcoming and spacious. But as usual I am drawn to the beer garden - a large space with lots of picnic tables (and lots of sun on this day!). This is a Thwaites (brewers since 1807) pub and I enjoyed their delicious Amber ale. Sweet and smooth with nice hops overtones. Yummy!
