Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Liverpool. Dates back to 1859 and is named after Lord Carnarvon, who was responsible for opening the tomb of Tutankhamoun. It is located just off of Church Street, one of the main shopping streets in Liverpool (and the Marks and Spencer!) and is claimed to be Liverpool s most central pub.
It is famous (infamous?) for being the scene of a suicide in 1894, when 22 year old Charles Wood ordered a drink, walked into the back room, and shot himself in the head in front of horrified customers. (Before he finished his beer ?!?!) Of course that's where I sat.
As opposed to the large pubs I had been visiting lately this was a small quaint pub. Several small rooms and a small bar. Really nice - I did not expect to find this in the middle of the shopping district! Enjoyed two tasty brews - Directors from Courage Brewing (an old classic!) and White Rat Hoppy Pale Ale from Ossett Brewing (Yorkshire).
