Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Brighton. History says a pub was here in 1455. The Black Lion Brewery was established in 1545 by Flemish protestant Deryck (originally Dirick) Carver, who was martyred outside of the Star Inn in Lewes in 1555, burnt in a beer barrel as he flung his bible into the crowd in defiance. It was originally made up of three tenements. The building was demolished in 1968 and the current pub built in 1974. It is located next to The Cricketers but due to it's more recent construction it lacks the feel of an old pub that its neighbor has. It must have been grand in its day but is just a nice contemporary looking pub now. Plus it has no real ales so it was a quick half of Carling and out for me.
