Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

Plymouth, UK. Location, location, location. Situated on the historic Barbican seafront (it's address is 1 The Barbican!) directly across from the Mayflower Steps where the pilgrims are believed to have set sail for America. However, historians believe that the steps are actually located below the ladies toilets in the pub! In any case there is a stunning view of the harbour from the pub. It has been on this site for over 300 years and is named after John MacBride, an Admiral in the Royal Navy and MP for Plymouth during the Napoleanic Wars. The interior consists of a large front room, a cozy snug in the back (both decorated in a nautical theme), and a small bar. At the front door there is a list of pilgrim fathers who sailed from here on the Mayflower. There is also a big pier garden (ha!) out by the waterfront. I ordered a Tribute Cornish Pale Ale from St. Austell Brewery and enjoyed the beautiful sunny South Devon afternoon.
