Slattery's Bar

Dublin. Secured it's liquor license in 1821. In 1870 it was transformed into the areas premier Gin Palace, debuting the ornate Victorian stucco facade, full height paneled pilasters, Romanesque windows, and a prominent curved corner shaped that still defines the streetscape today. In 1892 the pub secured a 7:00 a.m. opening license, establishing it as an "Early House". This rare designation was granted to accommodate the early morning schedules of night workers, traders, and laborers bustling through the nearby Dublin Corporation Victorian Fruit and Vegetable Markets on Mary's Lane. In the early 20th century the pub was acquired by the Slattery brothers, members of a well respected Dublin licensing family. During the 1960s, 70s, and 80s it was transformed into a legendary paradise for live music. Upstairs sits Patty's Lounge, famous for its"Wall of Fame", where rock icons like Def Leppard, Bob Dylan, and U2 have signed their names. There is a spacious area surrounding the central ground floor bar, another bar/area upstairs, and a seating area outside - a great place to sit, enjoy a Guinness, and watch Dublin go by.
