Pubs with Bruce
I've been a beer lover all my life and I love to travel. Combining these is the ultimate experience. As I've traveled, I've immersed myself in the history and folklore of the places I've visited. Join me on my beer journeys. Okay, it's not as good as actually being there, but who knows? You may be inspired to enjoy travels (and beers) of your own.

East Prawle, Devon. After a hike around beautiful Prawle Point (the southernmost point in Devon) and another trip down a treacherous rat run we stopped at the Pigs Nose Inn, overlooking the village green of East Prawle. With a rich history dating back over 300 years, it has served as a Victorian hotel, a smugglers' inn (storing "booty" from local shipwrecks), and even as a petrol station. It is an ale house that exudes charm with every nook and cranny (especially the ceiling!) adorned with trinkets, slates, wooden signs, and pictures. There are rooms surrounding a small central bar, a very dark, very cool, very small snug, and of course a large outdoor seating area on the green. It is also recognized as Devon's most southerly independent live music venue. The current owners are ex-roadie Peter Distin Webber and his wife Leslie, who together had run a recording studio in London hosting artists such as David Bowie, George Michael, and Bryan Adams. Acts who have appeared at the pub include The Yardbirds, The Animals, the Boomtown Rats, and Peter Tork. It was great to find beers served from gravity kegs, and I enjoyed a tasty ale from Eddystone South Hams Brewery (in nearby Stockenham, Kingsbridge) out on the sunny green.
